Braun (Audio) x Virgil Abloh - Wandanlage (Reimagined)
Since the iconic Braun wall unit in 1961, technology has evolved. Today, 60 years later, Virgil Abloh has reinterpreted it for 2021. Abloh has examined the original design from within and, drawing on his own influences, created a piece of "functional art." In doing so, he has remained true to Braun's fundamental design principle: "good design is built to last."
Virgil Abloh was born in Rockford, Illinois. He was an artist, architect, engineer, creative director, industrial designer, fashion designer, musician/DJ, and philanthropist. Abloh earned a degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by a master's degree in architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago. It was during his time at IIT that he discovered his passion for fashion. In the summer of 2019, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago hosted an exhibition of Abloh's work, which became one of the most visited exhibitions in the museum's history. He achieved his breakthrough in the fashion industry as the menswear designer for Louis Vuitton and as the founder of the Off-White™ brand. He also collaborated with many other companies, including IKEA. Virgil Abloh died at the age of 41.
