Porsche Mission X: Another Dream Takes Shape
Innovative concept cars have always been a cornerstone of Porsche's future. The sports car manufacturer continues this tradition with its latest concept study: the Mission X is a spectacular reinterpretation of a hypercar, featuring forward-opening Le Mans doors and a high-performance, efficient electric drive system.
The Mission X is an excitingly designed two-seater and will celebrate its premiere in June, 2023, on the eve of the opening of the special exhibition "75 Years of Porsche Sports Cars" at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. A significant date: Exactly 75 years earlier, in June, 1948, the 356 "No. 1" Roadster became the first automobile to receive general operating approval under the Porsche name. This marked the birth of the sports car brand.
The Mission X represents peak performance and modern luxury. At the same time, its sculptural design and muscular surfaces prove that hypercars don't have to look aggressive. The low-slung body, less than 1.20 meters high, is painted in Rocket Metallic – a sophisticated paint color created specifically for this concept study. Below the beltline, exposed carbon fiber panels are featured. These components are finished with a satin-gloss coating of Rocket Metallic, giving them a subtle tint, but their structure remains visible.
A continuous, seemingly floating light unit defines the rear of the Mission X. A unique feature is the transparent, illuminated Porsche logo. The sculptural taillight emerges freely from a modern supporting structure and, segmented into four elements, spans the entire width of the vehicle. The "E" of the Porsche logo pulsates mysteriously during charging.
A special detail debuts on the Mission X: the modernized Porsche crest. Brushed precious metal, a three-dimensional honeycomb structure, a refreshed heraldic animal, and a more subtle gold color—these are the differences between the modernized Porsche crest and its immediate predecessor. With its cleaner and more modern design, the evolved crest embodies the Porsche character. On the Mission X, it appears on the hood and steering wheel, as well as in a monochrome version on the wheel hub covers.
